Junior .NET Engineer

Web Engineer, Technology

Reports to : Technology Architect

Description

The Web Engineer is responsible for the design and quality implementation of Internet applications and computer applications in general. The Web Engineer will work closely with the Creative and Client Services teams to perform updates on all sites. The Web Engineer adheres to standards and policies set forth by the Programming Team under the guidance of the Technology Architect.

Responsibilities

  • Modification of existing HTML, ASP and .NET pages
  • Development of new functionality in ASP and .NET
  • Implementation of relational database schemas and coding of stored procedures
  • Front end duties including HTML authoring and JavaScript coding
  • Communication with client technical staff
  • Full testing/verification of code produced and complete de-bugging prior to launch of code
  • The Web Engineer is involved in specific phases of the application development lifecycle - design, coding, testing, debugging, deployment, and support. The Web Engineer implements software systems that adhere to design processes and documentation standards set forth by the Programming Team under the guidance of the Technology Architect.
  • From time to time the Web Engineer may be asked to use his/her technical expertise in the fulfillment of IT duties such as desktop support.

Skills and Aptitudes Required

  • Four-year degree in Computer Science, related subject, or equivalent work experience.
  • Entry level experience with ASP.NET
  • Mid level experience with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server or similar relational databases, including coding of stored procedures
  • Detail and quality oriented
  • Ability to follow coding and layout standards established by the programming team or by the client
  • Ability to work in a small, dynamic programming team with numerous responsibilities
  • Must always keep up with technical advancements and be able to suggest ways in which tasks can be performed more efficiently

Additional Skills and Aptitudes Desired

  • Experience working with content management systems
  • Experience with customer relationship management systems
  • Understanding of the document object model
  • Creation of new pages from Photoshop comps
  • Experience generating HTML for delivery in email marketing campaigns
  • Familiarity with slicing and optimizing graphics in Photoshop
